The HM Salim Run 10K 2024 organized by Pinnacle Sports Association at Diabari witnessed an enthusiastic participation of both men and women runners. The event commenced on January 5, 2024 A.H., with SM Shamsul Huda, the former general secretary of the association, initiating the program with an opening speech at 6:30 am.
Chairman of Pinnacle Sports Association, Hossain Mohammad Salim, who also serves as the Imam of Hezbut Tawheed, graced the event as the chief guest. The event was chaired by Rial Talukdar, the General Secretary of Pinnacle Sports Association.
During his speech, Hossain Mohammad Salim highlighted the societal crises faced by the youth, emphasizing the importance of sports in guiding and channeling their energy positively. He stressed the need to offer alternatives to the youth, focusing on the significance of sports in shaping their future.
The marathon began early in the morning, with participants gathering near the starting point at Sector 18’s Bridge No. 10 despite the severe cold. The race commenced at 7 am for male contestants and 30 minutes later for female contestants.
The results of the 10 km race for men were as follows:
- Muktadir Ahmed secured the first position, finishing the race in 46 minutes.
- Sohel Rana and Mohammad Hriday claimed the second and third positions, completing the race in 47 minutes and 47.30 minutes, respectively.
For the 7.5 km women’s race:
- Sumaiya Akhtar emerged as the winner, finishing in 40 minutes.
- Nazmunnahar Bithi secured the second position, followed by Jahanara Akhtar in third place.
Prizes were awarded to the first, second, and third-place winners, and all finishers received medals from the organizing authority. Notably, nearly all participants successfully crossed the finish line, showcasing their determination and commitment.
